2021 & 2022 Sponsorship – Updates!

Dear Friends and Family,
Greetings!!!
Hope you are all doing great and had a wonderful thanksgiving!.
First of all, we want to take a moment to thank you all for your continuous support to this reach out program. We were able to reach out to 107 students in 2021, 92+ students so far this year and we are on track to reach out to around 130 students by the end of 2022 with your generous contributions. Some of our sponsors went the extra mile by identifying their own students through their contacts in India and helped us with distributing sponsorships to those students on time.
We can definitely feel the impact on these students from their responses -- that someone cares about them and their struggles, and how this is helping them to develop empathy and to understand others’ pain as they become productive members of our society.
We are experiencing some challenges at the operational level which is limiting our reach for now.
1. We cannot transfer funds to any accounts in India due to new regulations, which is limiting our ability to grow without addressing this critical issue first. We cannot directly transfer sponsorships to students’ bank accounts. Our partner non-profit organizations don’t have the resources to upgrade their FCRA status as per the new regulations to help us like before.
2. We kindly ask our sponsors to also volunteer to help us transfer the sponsorships to the students they have identified and get that amount reimbursed from the WRO account for now. Our objective was to take this fund transfer related pain out of sponsors, unfortunately we have to follow this process until we resolve this issue.
We have also updated all your donations/sponsorships for 2021 and donations for 2022 until now. The remaining sponsorship mappings for 2022 will be completed at the end of this year. Please check the summary of your donations and sponsorships under your account (My Donations & My Students sections) on the WRO portal when you have some time and let us know if you have any questions or comments..
